“After their space-themed record -270°C (2021) and the following, earth-themed record Frohe Zukunft (2023) Kombynat Robotron are closing the circle with the waterthemed West Mata. With a total length of about 50 minutes split into three tracks the band returns to their longform jam-based approach to songwriting on West Mata.”

Long-form Krautrock with meditative motorik rhythm, both spacey & hypnotic. On this, KR assemble a three-part odyssey that levels from the mellow, dub-informed Jason II to the steady, reverb-washed Vasa and closes with the burly, chugging bass of Trieste. As the atmosphere of each waxes, the length of each wanes along the way so it’s hard to pick a favorite but it’s all pretty fricken good.
Standout: Vasa
Kombynat Robotron never fails to produce highly enjoyable long-form comfortable modern krautrock that is as reliable as it is enjoyable. Always happy to see and hear a new release from these guys. Definitely was in my tops of 2024.
