“Ad Astra was recorded live in july 2020 in Acid Roosters private garden with a field recorder in front of a small audience of friends during the lockdown in the middle of the corona pandemic. The two long jams were the opening an the closing track of a completely improvised concert and are a spontanious snapshot of ACID ROOSTERS approach of free floating psychedelic music.”
An isolation-inspired set of improvised jams from Acid Rooster certainly piqued my interest, and for good reason. This is spacious, drifting psych for outward/inward journeys. Track one builds slowly & deliberately on jangly guitar tones and meditative drum rhythm,s spreading wide above the curvature of your mind. Track two is a protracted drone adventure, laid on a bed of humming vibration and echoing ‘sounds’. It took more than one listen to put the experience into words, but these opposites certainly attract.
